Modest Mouse

Anyone into them? They have quite a unique sound.. vocals are a bit rough but the instrumentals and riffs make up for it IMO.

My fave band. I love his vocals.. a bit whacky, wicked harmonizing.. and the strange guitar stuff he does is just awesome. I love em.

yeah.. not only is the music killer, but the lyrics are tripped out as shit.. especially in their older work.

isaac brock (singer) does some side projects as well that you might be interested in.. one is Ugly Casanova and the other is Holopaw.

I fucking love Modest Mouse...and I love Isaac Brock's voice. It's very insane and angry but not grating..to me at least. Anyway...I also love his side project Ugly Casanova, it has some amazing songs, especially "Barnacles." Modest Mouse is awesome live.

I agree, "edit the sad parts" is fucking great. the guitar riffs are flat out wicked in that song..  :thumbup:

modest mouse are great, unique style, isaac has a interest in old blues and folk music, which we are starting to here in his music more now (namely on the ugly casanova LP). and brian deck, the producer of moon and antartica and the casanova cd is a amazing, as is his other works with red red meat, califone, holopaw, fruit bats, oRSo, and alot other stuff at clava studio's/perishable records. (see the link in my sig).

the drummer of modest mouse, jeremiah, also has a cool side project called "red stars theory", there more lo-fi, indie-pink floydish, if you like that kind of thing.

one of my favorit bands (i've knowen them for a few years now and still i've never met anyone alse that likes them)
their lyrics totaly mess me up sometimes though (kinda scary the amount of synchroniseties i've had with their songs)

my favorit song is probably "she ionizes and atomizes"

i hope i'll get to see them live when i'm in canada!

Modest Mouse are great, but i find them a bit monotonous, emotionally and melodically when stretched out over 70 minutes...

They tend to do that emotionally disturbed angst thing over and over, not that they don't do it very well...still over about 40 minutes of that is just too much of a good thing for me.
