Pot Farm Unveiled In Guadalupe County

GUADALUPE COUNTY, N.M. -- Police said they've uncovered thousands of marijuana plants in Guadalupe County, and the bust may be worth millions of dollars.

Some of the pot plants officials uncovered were 12 feet tall. The bust was so big, they asked for help from state police and officers in Fort Sumner.

It took them two days, but police say they've finally ripped out 2,000 pot plants in the wilds along the Pecos River, near Santa Rosa.

Each plant is worth anywhere between $1,000 and $5,000.

Perhaps the most amazing thing is the fact those responsible for the drugs were able to hide their farm from everybody -- even the people who owned the land.

"It was in a real remote area," said Sheriff Robert Chavez.

Police said the people who owned the land are not under suspicion and are cooperating with investigators.

No arrests have been made in the case.

The Guadelupe County Sheriff's Department adds that the amount of pot recovered is so big, they don't have room to store it.

They're moving it to a storage facility in Fort Sumner.
