    #483188 - 12/07/01 02:50 PM (22 years, 8 days ago)

well, i got all my supplies listed and soon to be bought, tell me what u think:
disposable petri dishes and/or 1/2 pint jars to grow culture
test tubes to store mycelium in
test tube rack
scalpel to cut agar and so on.

but i still dont get the thing about agar, can i use the malt extract-wheat, on sporeworks.com? or do i gotta mix all kinds of shit?

im also wonderin if this is what a blower is? http://www.usacheapest.net/blowerbest.jpg

and can i use the outlet electricity to power it? or do i need somethin else?

I think the blower you are reffering to is for a flow hood. In that case it is a squirel cage blower used in furnaces and such. Thant looks like a fan for a computer or something. Go to ebay and look up furnace blowers, or this is a tek to build a flow hood at mycotopia. Use the petri dishes, the only problem I can see with them is they arent pressure cookable unless you get the non-disposable ones which are pretty pricey imo. And for agar just get the premixed MEA so you dont have to worry about mixing and buying three or four things.

oh, and you can just kep the mycellium in the petri dishes unless you are going to deep freeze them or something.

could some tell me what these are? http://abacus.sj.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/2d1078e3ea8ae8c2343ece5ef2/i-1.JPG
Unused 115V 1.3A AMCO Model BDSRF 8. Unit measures 8" x 10.5" x 17.5" The mounting brackets are 3/4" each. If the buyer wants only the blower complete ready to run and to save shipping, I will disassemble and ship the item with clamp and 8 mounting screws as shown in picture labelled 6. The unit is surprisingly quiet for its size and volume.
