Under Moon Lit Depth (a poem)

I. To earth And back into the sky. A warm twilight zephyr and the rustling of bronze, saffron, and crimson Quelled the anxieties of flying about after dusk. Until the moon ceased glow The birds danced and played; Living for the moment? Not thinking of the coming day. As yellows turned to ebony and crumbled And the breeze carried chilling nip, The days turned shorter The nights grew longer And the moon shone brighter than before The sparrows continued their ritual? Meeting, after sunset, Amongst the evening?s brilliant hues And frolicking ?til morn. Each evening entwining them together Ever more. II. I stand in a lonesome valley Amongst wretched mud-brown weeds Beaten down by frigid furry, Losing their will to stand. Hemmed in on either flank by once majestic oaks Whose boughs now only droop towards the floor. My gaze shifts towards the sky. The pale sliver of moonbeam is waning. And is quickly enveloped by a cloud. But, brighter, intense, is one lone glow, As though a beacon to an imperiled ship. White beyond brightness, the star shone, And, for an eternal moment, my spirit was uplift?d. Twas merely a passing feeling, And not but a glimpse of light. For the gray wisps of winter Quickly overcome that struggling hope. And the beacon is no more. A chill I feel throughout my person, Frigid, cold, sore. I gaze at the oaks behind me? Not a leaf has stirred.

It's obvious that your battling a little depression man. I hope things work out. You do have a way with words. On the lighter side: You think too much! Smoke a bowl and kick in a jam!! haha

Thanks, Jammer... Yeah, i know my biggest assest, as well as my largest fault, is that i overanalyze everything. Music has been my only source of salvation through this. God, the Dead are just the best. Looks Like Rain is my theme song. I don't have any desire to smoke or drink. I think even more when in those states, and that is the last thing i wanna do right now.

time heals all wounds... or at least helps to make them fade in memory. nice poem. when i was really depressed (for the same reasons you are i believe), sleep was a wonderful escape. also, someone recommended a book that i should read to help me alieviate my sadness. the power of now. he even scanned the first 50 pages or so for my reading. i never thought something like it would help me, but it did. you can check out the scan at: http://www.swib.com/thepowerofnow. it helped me to not dwell on painful memories and allow my thoughts to feed my depressed emotions in a vicious cycle.

Geokills that book link ya provided rocks. I have been soooo depressed lately (stopped taking my SSRI's about 4 weeks ago against my psychiatrits wishes) and this book really hit a cord. I recommend for those of you out there who feel a little lost right now. Thanks Geo Peace.
