are these cakes ready? w/pics
    #4769342 -

K i posted this yesterday and no one answered so I took some pics to show what i mean:

k so in this picture you can see the myc RIGHT BEHIND the substrate mix, but its not touching the glass. Are these ready to go, or should I wait untill the entire cake is touching the glass?

Here are some pics of the other sides of the same jar.

See, the rest of it is ready to go I just dont know about those other spots, is that ok?

Also, i have one cake that has a dime sized spot uncolonized at the bottom. Its been this way for a couple days, what should i do about it? A cold front came in a couple days ago and my closet which usually is about 82deg went down to 72deg, could this have stopped the growth of that spot? thanks guys, please try to answer all these questions, because half the time i only get answers to 1 or 2 of my questions.

id wait a few more days man.. ua re supposed to wait a few days even after all visable sides are covered so that the insides can colonize.

id say give it 3-5 days if ur jars arent completely white then im guessin ur myc stopped growing and was stalled at some point by something..

not using a incubator?\

how are u incubating.. ?? u should keep a thermometer handy for situatuions like these.. if u have an incubator crank it up a couple more degrees dont go higher then 89-90(or atleast i wouldnt).. and keep it at this for about a day or less and see if the myc starts growing again.. then turn back down to 86..

let me kn ow if all works out man i hope this answered ur questions

This is a couple days after it has been this colonized, and its been like throughout the whole grow. If you cant really see it in the pic, there is a fully colonized layer underneath that brown area, and its been like that the whole time, thats why i'm wondering.

no i dont have an incubator, i just had a terrarium i would keep them in. incubation temps, although 82 is optimal, still grow at 77deg and higher, and my closet kept em right at low 80's too so it was perfect.

let me ask you something? when you did the pf tek. did you put dry vermiculite on top of it? because, it looks like some of that dry verm. slipped down the side after the cake shrinks a little bit.. if that is the case. id say wait 1 more day then birth.

Well, if your really antsy you could birth it and slice off that uncolonized chunk with a sterile blade.....

or, you could just wait until its fully colonized (I would)

With your other jar, yes the temp drop could have stalled your growth. You could also have a CO2 buildup, try flipping the jar upside down and see what happens after a couple of days.

You might want to consider making a TiT man. It'll keep your jars nice and toasty regardless (relatively) of ambient temp changes.

Can jars recover from stunted growth due to temp changes? My jars have been colonizing for about 6 weeks or more, and i know thats what the problem was.

peavyxs thats probably exactly what happened, thanks man!! these are from mike o'logicals kit, and i know he puts a verm layer on top.

yea i'll probably just let that other one go and see what happens. i've tried flipping it, but its been that way for a bit longer than i would have thought. Especially because they were moving very very noticeable growth every 12 hrs. so if it doesnt grow i'll just hack it off, its real tiny.

ps im casing these

yes they can recover.. as long as the temp dont go ov er like 110 degrees i think myc dies off at about 105 or sumthing.. so as long as ur below like 95 or sumthing or 98 i wouldnt worry..

6 weeks is a long time to be colonizing.. flip ur jars upside down for a few days..

any pics rab?
