How long will Tenn Stud's horse poo stay good for.....

a long time.
I purchased some Tenn Stud horse poo when Mike first opened up his business. I recieved the package on 03/04/05. The thread that I posted when I recieved the horse poo... http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/3868897#Post3868897
I had some personal problems at the time and wasn't able to use it. Then I had some major construction done on my house this summer...so it sat in the box it came in until this last week. The box sat in a room that the temps were in the 70's and high 90's this summer...I was concerned with the moisture content of the poo being off rather than anything else. I could tell from looking at the bags...that it hadn't gone bad.
Yeah you guessed it...I used it this last week and I have some really good colonization going on now. This is with pre-pastuerized horse poo that is over 6 months old!~
I had a friend give me some fully colonized quart jars of WBS... he decided to get out of growing for a little while.
So I spawned some it to the Tenn Stud horse poo as an experiment.
I will post some pictures of the EQ and Stropharia strains colonizing the 6 month old Tenn Stud horse poo later today.
I really don't suggest others to wait 6 months to use his products...just letting you know that it worked for me.
---
Mike,
You probably never guessed that your poo would be good for 6 months!~

I spawned the colonized WBS to the poo... the early morning of the 8th.
at like 1 or 2 am...I tend to be a late nighter.

Roadkill, I have containers similar to the ones you are colonizing your hpoo in. What are you using to mask the outside so it doesnt pin prematurely? Do you have to incubate something that size?

That was my plan but when it comes to fruiting, don't you need some sort of masking on the outside so it doesnt pin from the bottom and sides?

I put a trash bag liner for the bottom of my container, just as tall as the poo. like whats done in this tek.

my bulk casings colonize in the dark.
then I cover up the bottom of the clear containers before fruiting. usually I use dark colored containers for casings...but I'm experimenting with 6 month old horse poo and I wanted to watch it.
there is no need to incubate large size bulk grows...they give off enough heat on their own to colonize... as long as the room temps are in the 70's.
small bulk containers you can incubate in your incubator...like an alum meat loaf pan size.
