Yeah. but Bruce Lee from the 70s wouldn't be fighting a Wanderlai Silva from 2005.
You can be sure that Lee would have incorporated other, more efficient styles as soon as he discovered them. That's what JKD was all about.. formlessness.. using any style that works best.. no limitations. Technically, you could call JKD the first true MMA in its purest sense.

Bruce lee consistently hit 3-4 times harder than Mike Tyson. (That's over 2,000lbs psi)
Plus he was like 10,000x faster than anyone.

And I have the studies to prove it!

But that's what I was asking originally, and that's the claim the original poster made.

The 70's Bruce would get TORN UP by the 2005 Silva. It wouldn't even be funny.

Saying Bruce Lee THEN couldn't beat someone NOW is ridiculous. I bet Bruce Lee THEN could beat any of your fighters THEN, because they would have been kids or not even born yet. This makes as much sense as your argument.

I think I could have beat up Bruce Lee back in the day. He even said himself, that if you have 10 years of wrestling and boxing you could beat up anyone. He realized he was an actor.

Well, a good grappler can beat just about any stand up fighter given the right circumstances. It's not fair  :frown:

Just look at the recent Pride GP, ARONA beat Silva!

Silva has 100000x more skill than Arona, but Arona wouldn't let the fight be a stand up fight.

He made it be a ground fight, so even though he didn't inflict any damage onto Silva, he kept the fight flowing how he liked and won.

By the way captain reading disorder, I didn't make this sort of claim or anything close to it. I said that the fighters of today don't compare to Bruce Lee, not that if they traveled back in time and fought him, he'd win.

Bruce Lee is just in general way cooler, and much more of a badass then anyone who fights today.

If you don't think there were fighters of today's calibur a MERE 30 years ago, I'd have to disagree with you.

Well, if they were in the same time frame I don't even think they would of ever trained in martial arts.

Most of them trained much because of the opportunities of competing, they were poor and needed some sort of income for life.

Back then, you couldn't make a living fighting. You'd have to do more than fighting, like become an actor, such as Bruce Lee.

On a different note, while Sonny Chiba kicks a lot of ass too, he looks sort of funny while fighting. Kinda like he's constipated or thinking really really hard maybe. Definatly doesn't have the style or flair Bruce Lee does.
