Bruce Lee is too badass for words

I picked up a 5$ DVD with 9 Bruce Lee/Sonny Chiba movies from a Walmart discount movie bin. This guy is unreal, he's just so freaking amazing when he fights.

Not even comparable. Those guys are shit. Watching Bruce Lee is honestly just amazing. The types of moves he's able to do with just his legs even, coreographed or not, is incredibly impressive.


Goons that pound on each other don't compare for shit.

I'm sure Shroomism will back me up 100% when I say this, but those people have far surpassed Bruce Lee's skill in martial arts.

They have dedicated their whole entire life to studying their arts, whether it be MMA, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, etc.

They compete in tournaments of Pride FC, not Americanized UFC, against anyone in the world. Everyone is able to take part, anyone of any martial arts background, and those people tend to always come out on the top.

Well them and a handful more. Those are just a few of my favs.

Bruce Lee is like a ballet dancer compared to them.

His moves may look "pretty", but in all reality he has very little practical skill compared to them.

He would get torn up.

Bruce lee consistently hit 3-4 times harder than Mike Tyson. (That's over 2,000lbs psi)
Plus he was like 10,000x faster than anyone.

If it wasn't for Lee and his efforts, MMA would probably not even exist right now. Pride, UFC, etc.. all would not exist. Those were HIS dreams. He would own both of those rings I don't care who you put in them.

I am well aware of Bruce Lee's abilities.

I am also well aware of his contributions.

But at the same time I am very aware of the fighters I posted.

Do you really believe Bruce Lee could take on Fedor? Or Wanderlei Silva?

Bruce Lee was very well in choreographed shit, but like I said he wasn't as much as a practical fighter. His techniques of fighting wouldn't last 1 round in the ring.

There is a reason why all the champs in MMA tend to use a select few forms of MA.

I don't think the size makes that big of a difference really. Jujitsu guys consistently take down guys twice as big and strong as them. Bruce Lee did the same, without jujitsu. It's more about speed, skill, and technique than it is strength.

Honestly? Yeah I think Bruce Lee could have taken Fedor or Silva. That would be a hell of a fight. You got to take into account that Bruce Lee died a long time ago. If he had been keeping up with the times, you can be damn sure he would have mastered any dominant forms of MMA and risen to the top just like these guys. The man was all about efficiency in technique and winning. He would have adapted, and kicked some major Silva ass. As much as I love Silva and think he's the baddest ass fighter.. Bruce Lee was better :smile:

I agree that size definatly isn't the end all and be all but at the same time when there is such a small difference in skill I think size is a factor.

They didn't even really have rings back then. Not for martial artists. It was all street fighting or in some dojo. Bruce Lee was the major pusher for getting sport fighting going in rings in the first place!

Well you just dodged he original question.

I was asking if THAT Bruce Lee, the one from the past, could take on modern day Silva.

The answer is NO.

He was so successful because he used outdated martial arts and fought others in the same region who used outdated martial arts.

Thanks to globalization, there has been a unity of many forms of martial arts, and a spreading of it.

There is a reason why the only 3 certified instructors of JKD started drifting from JKD into other forms of martial arts. James Yimm Lee and Inosanto soon started to incorporate other styles such as Kali, Silat, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jujitsu, and even teach them independently.

Bruce Lee was good for his time, but is nothing compared to modern fighters.
