Meshuggah
    #4596103 - 08/29/05 08:44 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

I have been a fan of Meshuggah for quite some time now, but Catch 33

only solidified my love for them.  I can't get over how amazing this

album is.  The creativity and uniqueness is astounding.  Recently, I

have also been listening to some other math metal, but I'm not

familiar with a lot of math bands.

Any suggestions on ones worth listening to?

The only song by Meshuggah I've heard is "Future Breed Machine." And it was pretty phat.

Yeah, Captain, I was at the music store and I had to choose between I

or Catch 33.  I chose the latter.  I'll go back and pick up I as soon

as I get the chance.

Yeah, Meshuggah is great. Catch 33 is truly fantastic. At first listen I thought it was a solid release, but not up to par with Chaosphere or Nothing. But now, I think it easily surpasses those. I just love how the whole cd comes together as one song.

As for technical metal suggestions, all these guys are great:
Spiral Architect (these guys are insane)
Cynic
Death
Atheist
Cryptopsy
Decapitated

i like how Catch 33 sounds, my favourite musically is probably Contradictions Collapse & None but I can't stand the vocals, I wish they'd turn instrumental. However the vocals on Catch 33 really work for me.

You've heard Dillinger Escape Plan, right? If not, you have to try them out. They were great math metal to begin with, and I like them even better since they did an EP with Mike Patton, got new singer Greg Puciato, and mixing up the genres, Patton-style, a bit.

I wouldn't really call them metal, but yeah they are pretty good. I liked Calculating Infinity a whole lot, but I didn't really like Miss Machine too much.

Meshuggah is cool. Didn't their singer loose his finger in some kind of accident or something?
