light and yield

"I have done a couple of experiments and the best source of light I have found is No light. They get light once a day when I look at them for about 5 mins max. They will be much bigger than with light. They think they are still in the casing and keep searching for light, getting taller and fatter. I have noticed a 40-50% increase in yield by limiting their light to practically zero. If you have two terrariums try it yourself. One light (as much as you want), and one no light. The ones with light will mature faster but be smaller, and the ones with no light - woa boy!" - Mordor Does this really work? My friends plan was to leave his terrarium by a window so they get sunlight and it is exactly like out door conditions. (as far a lighting goes). What would optimum lighting conditions be? Thanks in advance.

Lights are only used as to initilize pinning and as a sense of direction. They dont provide any amount of energy to your mushroom. Several minutes of light a day is fine.

The only thing light does is initiate pinning and give the mushrooms a sense of which direction to grow. It doesn't have any bearing on yield. Optimal conditions are what a mushroom would generally see in nature: 12 hours of light, 12 hours of dark.

it sounds feasable, now that i read this post and think back, last harvest my pet banana did used very little light, on PF style cakes, prolly 30 min a day. and I saw fatter fruits than when he used constant sunlight, or artificial light.
