I have decided
    #4582355 -

that all religion is total bullshit that perpetuates ignorance, a good majority of religious people are blind followers, and that 99% of this planet is completely insane.

Aaaaaaaaa i cant take it!!!!! seriously what the fuck is wrong with everybody on this planet?!?!?

The exoteric dogmas of the world's major religions do not accurately reflect their esoteric truths.

It's just the interpretation that gets fucked up, the organization.

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

People are the ones who fuck it up big time.

I was checking out Larry King the other night and they were having an intelligent design (kinda creationism) and evolution debate on whether it should be taught in schools.

Anyways there is one stubborn dickhead hardcore christian priest type guy who believed the earth was only 10,000 years old and such and he was just atttacking everyone on the show for their unholy beliefs.

The stupidest shit was is that he was jumping all over some Christian Senator because he didn't agree that Creationism was the only possibility.

People are Loons.

You have to understand the other point of view sometimes. Most of these people were born and raised to KNOW that god is this and that and that's just how the world is. It's like if someone told you that the sun isn't real. You KNOW the sun is real, so you'd argue. Most of them see God in the same way.

While I may not agree with them, and in particular would love to see many evangelists tortured, I kind of feel sorry for people who believe something so blindly that they will never take a look at what else may be out there.

Religion isn't a bad thing. Corruption and manipulation by the leaders of organized religion is.

belief in itself is the death of intelligence when you believe something you no longer have to think about it you've closed your mind to other possibilities that is bad....believe nothing

I hear people say this alot, and I agree with the mentality behind it, but is it really possibly to get through the day beliveing nothing?

I dont mean "getting through" emotionally, but practically. If you dont belive eating food will siate your hunger, for example, you would starve to death. Although this is an extreme example, doesnt this kind of thing show the value that belief has?

And lets look at the example of religion. As unpopular as it may be in the shroomery, relegion gives many people the strength they need to face the hardships of life.

I think a better idea would be to belive what you deemed reasonable, while remaining open minded about all of your beliefs.

Im gonna stop now before I start rambling.

instead of beliefs i have ideas. Ideas can be changed easily when a better idea comes along and this allows your minds to remain flexible beliefs on the other hand are rigid unflexible and usually come with unhealthy dogmas. As far as your religion comment goes I think people use them too much as a crutch i've seen people stand there and pray and bemoan their various gods about their problems rather than look at them logically and use their own two legs to fix it. Drugs can be used to face your hardships too it doesn't make it a good idea though

By belief, I believe he means faith, and faith is not supported by evidence.

You know food will satiate your hunger because the other 6,000,000 times you've eaten, it has. The evidence is there. And if you want to go deeper into it, you can research the physical reasons for this, where the food goes, what parts of the brain control hunger, etc.

But faith, by definition, cannot be verified like this. God is a pure belief because God has no evidence; there's no way to test out God, or observe God, or understand God. God is just there to make us feel better about our shitty temporary lives, to make us feel better because everybody around us is being depressed and bleeding and eventually dying horrible deaths. God is like a drug that we just shoot up when everything's going downhill, to give us more "meaning" and "understanding" of our primate mindset and existence. But in the end, God is just an emotion; he has no logic or evidence, and he only helps our most primitive emotions, not our knowledge and evolution.
