of the Music & Spirit of Jerry Garcia

Saturday, September 24th
at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, California

I can't make it. The hot topic concerning this event is the fact that Phil Lesh will be a no show.

A message from Phil:
"When my son Grahame was born eighteen years ago,
I made a solemn vow to myself that my children would always come first in my life. I am very proud that I have honored that vow, and as a result, I have a very close relationship with my two wonderful sons. I will be unable to participate in the Rex Foundation's benefit concert honoring Jerry in September, as that is the week that we help Grahame move out from our home and into a dorm at his university. I know that with all of the fine musicians participating a wonderful day of music will be enjoyed by all."

Most agree that this is a noble cause for Phil to miss this concert but others wonder why he can't just fly over for a day to participate in something so integral to his life. I wonder if there's more to it than what he says in the message.

Either way it'll be a cool show and I wish I could attend but it's just too far from me. I want to check out the Greek Theater sooner or later though.
