De-Funking a Funky Basement

So heres the news!
I'm moving into a new house that I'm renting for a few months. It's allright as houses go, not as nice as where I am now, but it will work. The basement is really humid and has a moist, dank smell. I'm down with the dank smell when it's from a plastic baggie, but not where I'm going to be setting up some dart boards and stuff.

I'm thinking if I scrub the SHIT out of every exposed surface with hot bleachy water, that will kill any mold, fungi, spores or alien entities that are living there. I'm going to use a coil cleaner on the dehumidifier so that it is up to ideal operating levels and sucking the moisture out of the basement. Then I'll have a clean and dry basement, the problem is going to be keeping it that way. I'll probably use a thick latex weather-resistant white paint on all of the non-wood surfaces and then finish the wood with some Thompsons or such. Can anyone think of any other ideas that might help me out? I want this place to sparkle and shine.

be careful of the ventilation in your basement. most cleaning products, especially ammonia based ones, give off mad fumes that can make you dizzy or worse, burn your nasal passages, eyes or asophagus in close proximity. if its that big a job i would wear a dust mask and some goggles.

if you spray some tilex on the mold and dirt and shit and let it set for a few minutes it will slide off like butter.

If there's rot in the wood, it will have to be removed before you can
paint over it. That can be a problem with load-bearing members,
unless your basement is ferroconcrete and straight steel.

The wood looks good, the basement just has a funky musty smell that gets sucked into the heat pump and blown all throughout the house. I think that I'm going to bleach the shit out of it, then set up my kerosene heater wiht fans blowing everywhere to dry it all out, then paint it while it's nice and dry. The dehumidifier should work pretty good from then on out, with a nice moisture-barrier latex paint.
