Everyone said it would be Paris .... they were wrong:

It's LONDON!

That picture is very funny to me. "Maybe we should have made up less of these shirts...."

congrats

I'm so glad it wasn't NYC, though I would have made a killing leasing out my apartment just for the period of the Olympics when it finally rolled around. I would have rented it out to some naive european visitor rich enough to pay me way more than I deserved.

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

that's the second place i've seen that "t-shirt sale" pic already! you dont read the lonely planet thorn tree do you?

i have to say that as someone who takes little interest in sport i'm not really that bothered, though given chirac's recent disparaging remarks about the UK and finland it did raise a smile to my face when i heard the news. i'm told the winning margin was 4 votes, finland had two votes, so if chirac's ill-judged words had swayed their opinions then he may have cost paris the victory as a swing of two votes from london to paris would have left it a draw.

i think i'll go on holiday to finland when the games are on in 2012 and rent my house out to some sports mad nutter. 40 mins by train to central london - any takers?
