all my url links are hijacked by a search engine

i'm sure i'm infected by some sort of parasitic program, though i'm not sure of what sort.
i have run spyware doctor, but it hasn't seemed to fix my problem completely.
every time i click on a link, i am sent to a search engine w/ the title of the link in the search engine's box.
so, i thought you guys might be able to
point me in the right direction of some free software that
might identify and fix my problem.

computers are not my specialty, so i appreciate any help, guys.

Get microsoft's antispyware program, update it and run it in safe mode

See if that gets rid of it

If those programs don't get rid of it, download and run avg antivirus. I had a few virii on an old computer, and after running over 3 spyware removal tools and manually cleaning things out, that did the job.

Type this in your run command (Start button > run)

"216.127.90.71/aawsepersonal.exe"

Heh, I used to have a site and I fucking hated it when people jacked my images and files, but oh well. When you don't have any browsing capabilities, what else are you going to do? Call your oem and have them do a system restore? lol

Again, if adaware doesn't take care of the spyware problem then it's probably hijacked your host files and this and that. I believe that spybot can take care of that though. Try things out and post back here when you can.

MIght be CWS (cool web search).

It kept re-infecting my pc over and over.  Not adaware or any other spyware progie could get rid of it.

Download HijackThis and do a scan. You'll most likely find some DLL files loading that shouldnt.  Altho i wouldnt use this program if youre not to savvy with PCs.  90% of the scan results are legit start up programs. You dont wanna mess with it if you dont know how.

I used HijackThis to delete the files on boot, then replaced them with 'empty' files of the same name, and made them read-only.
This way, the hidden spyware that keeps reinstalling 'sees' that its already installed, and wont bother installing again.  This is only a temporary fix since the spyware is sort of dormant.

Find out first if its CWS, and the solution should be easier to narrow down.  Sorry im not posting any links or anything i was just running out the door.

HijackThis is a very awesome program, ive gotten rid of thousands of spyware programs using HijackThis. User beware though, you can totaly fuck your computer up if you dont know whats a virus and whats your computers system commands. Good thing theres a tech forum for HijackThis to aid in beating virus's!
