mp3 to cda or cda to mp3?
mp3 to cd I just use foobar (my media player). you just highlight and right click "burn cd"
http://www.foobar2000.org
cd to mp3 I use EAC with LAME at alt preset standard http://www.exactaudiocopy.de
cdex is also good http://cdexos.sourceforge.net
cdex and eac will also burn cds. both are free & quality.

Hmm..I tried the foobar, but see no way to convert my mp3's to cda.
I will give the cdex a look..

They both look like good programs, but I don't think they will convert MP3 > CDA unfortunately.

Wait, do you want to convert .mp3 to .cda and not actually burn a disc? If so, why? What is the point of that? foobar, cdex, and eac will all burn .mp3 onto disc, but not sure if that is what you're trying to do.

Well my car cd player only seems to play the kind of cds you buy in a store. I'm told that format is cda. So I want to convert some of my mp3s to cda format and then burn them to a disk so I can listen to them in my car.

whenever you burn a disc, the files are always converted to .cda - no matter if they are mp3, ogg, flac, whatever. .cda, I believe, stands for compact disc audio.
all you have to do is use one of the programs to burn a disc.

My cd player always rejects any cd I burn. So if the store-made cd's are CDA and play fine and MY cds are also CDA why does it always reject mine? Clearly there is a difference between mine and theirs. What is that difference and how do I make it so mine play?

The car I bought recently came with a JVC KD-S570 (looks pretty old). I am using Sony CD-R's for media.

...that wouldnt work. Unless you burn an mp3 disc, every file will be converted to .cda and then burnt to disc - converting to .wav wont do anything but degrade the audio.

Of course it will and does work. The older stereos that dont support mp3 playback can and will still play wav files.

whenever you burn a disc, the audio files are always converted to .cda
the only way to have a .wav disc is to burn as a data disc. .wav takes up too much space and decompressing mp3 back to wav will degrade the audio.

Looks like this fossil won't accept anything but factory created cds..I tried the wavs and no go. Oh well, will just have to wait till I can afford a decent cd player..
