codec purge and reload
    #4249494 - 06/02/05 08:25 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Would you help me? I'm looking for reliable instructions on how to purge video codecs (and preferably audio too, to be safe) and then reloading them. I have a problem where the audio plays faster than the video, and have tried doing this from a reccomended website, but still have the problem. Any resources for this endevour will be appreciated.

Are you sure the problem is with your player and not with the encoding itself? I have seen plenty of bad encodings that were not properly synced. This is usually the result of telecine not being properly handled by the encoder. Telecine is how they convert 24000/1001 frame per second used in film to 29000/1001 frames per second used for NTSC video. An off by one frame is almost unnoticable at the start of an encoding, but a good five seconds off after two hours.

In answer to your question, check "add/remove programs" under control panel/settings to see if the codecs are listed. If so, remove them by clicking on the remove button.

Just another spore in the wind.
