For Those With An Ultrasonic......

I just got a Vicks Ultrasonic at Goodwill for $8. I put some water in to test it out. It seems a little water leaks out every now and then, does this thing need some kind of rubber gasket where you pour in the water? See pic:



Also, should I be able to SEE the fog coming out the top, or is it ultra-invisible?

yes you need a gasket.

and yes it should be visible. it should roll out cloudier then a fog machine.

How long does it take? One had a label that stated it takes 6 minutes or something for the thing to get going.

it's instant. if it just sputters than the ultrasonic is broke. I had to buy 3 off of ebay, every single one did this. then I finally got one that worked.... was a fucking hassle. good luck..

FYI on the gasket: they make sheets of gasket rubber where you can cut out your own custom sized gasket if you need it. Requires a steady hand but hey...

One more question. My ultrasonic has a "Water Demineralization Catridge" Does this thing need to ever be replaced? The filter looks somewhat dirty.
