I'm not saying socialism is good or bad. I just think you're incorrect in saying that social, not communism, distributes wealth more.

well check out the results of non-socialism: there's what? 25 million people considered as being poor IN THE USA, the richest country in the world.

diversity is good, but if it could be between people and not between social classes that would be great. i'm all for one social class, instead of three.

The closest (imo) would be Communist China under Mao or Cambodia under Pol Pot. Neither of them were communism in it's true sense, since the final stage of communism is the abolishment of organized government.

the closest i'd claim would be some tribal societies (where it was "socialism" enforced by some religious/ancestoral belief, so it doesn't really count), and scandinavia (although in a tainted capitalist form)

Poor is a relative term. There is no absolute poverty in the US. If Bill Gates suddenly doubled his riches, then the poor would be considered twice as poor, without any compromise in their standard of living. The goal should be to eliminate hunger and disease in third world countries, not millionaires at home.

I wish I was rich...then I could donate a shitload of money, get a lot of good people out of jail, put on shows and fests for free and hand out mad LSD for free....I'd go broke pretty quick, but it would all be worth it.  :grin:

Actually, since the number of people working at minimum wage jobs in the US is just barely over 2% of the workforce, this means there are more than twice as many US millionaires as there are US minimum wage workers.

Also note that in deciding who is a millionaire and who is not, the appraised value of the primary residence of the millionaire is not included. So for example if you own your house and could sell it tomorrow for $250 K but you have just $800 K in the bank, you ain't a millionaire yet. I'm sure if that was tossed into the equation the number of US millionaires would be at least 10,000.
