DVD copying software
    #4206403 - 05/22/05 11:34 AM (18 years, 10 months ago)

I just purchased a dvd burner, and I am looking for some software.

Ideally, I am looking for software where you put the dvd in the dvd drive, the blank media in the dvd+/-rw drive and then copy it 1-for-1. Anyone know of any software like this?

just use dvdshrink. I don't know if there is any software like what your looking for, but if there is, it wouldn't work for most dvd's because they are more than 4.7gb, while blank dvd's can only hold 4.7

He is right, most DVDs from the shops hold more than 4.7 gig, whereas blank made avaliable to us ( end user ) are only 4.7gb! Have a look on google for dvd copying software

Many new dvd +/- r(rw) provide dual layer support. With dual layer support you can make a copy of a dvd9.

yeah, those dual layer dvd's are expensive as hell right now though. Another year or so and they'll be as cheap as the regular ones are now.

You will not be able to make 1:1 copies unless you use dual-layer blanks, but they are still way too expensive right now ($5-$10 each).

I use two programs. The first is DVD Decrypter, used to break the CSS protection on the DVD and copy an image to your hard drive. The second is DVD Shrink , to fit the DVD on one DVD-R disc. Then use DVD Decrypter again to write the image onto a blank disc.

he speaks nothing but the truth (except i've NEVER seen a dl blank for less than 8 )

also, DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES pay more than .40 cents per blank (ie 100 pack for 40, 50 pack for 20)... your wasting your money if you do. Also, look for those 40 packs when your buying them (as well as 25 packs, and 15 packs) they are the biggest scam, cause they come in the same size package as the 50 pack and you buy them accdently... once.

check out the storesonline.. bestbuy, compusa, etc... they advertise thier shit online too, so it's all local price. i buy 2 50 packs at a time, so i dont have to wait for them to go onsale somewhere, and search for them

get a library card, they have TONS of dvd's... and usualy you can request things online to be sent to your local liberry.

oh yea, staples sometimes has 25 packs for $5... so stock up on those... thier worth it... and the rebates, if needed, do come in the mail, fairly quick, 4-6 weeks.

Clonedvd + anydvd is my favorite way to copy dvds.

Anydvd decryptys in the background clonedvd is the ripping/transcoding/burning program.

dvdshrink is pretty much all you need 99% of the time.

yea, dvdshrink is cool 95% of the time, but if you plan on going to sleep, and have like 3 dvd's you want to rip, you can just dvddecrypt them to the hard drive and then start one when you go to sleep... plus it keeps you from doing other things once it starts, like using your drive for anything... i've just got in the habit of using dvddecryptor, and it's fine..

50 pack? 100 pack? if it was a 100 pack, good deal, 50 pack :nonono: .72 cents each...  even the 8x's are .40 cents on sale all the time... and if your burner accepts it, you can burn them at faster speeds usualy (12x-16 on mine). memorex goes a max of 12x (8x disc) fuji and tdk go 16x (8x disc).. dont get the 4x, cause they dont usualy got any faster than 4x.

dvdxcopy kinda sucks - it is not longer updated, so you'll find many commerical dvds cannot be decrypted as Hollywood updates its protection. just use dvdshrink or dvddecrypter - both are free and updated.

100 pack.

I wanted to go with a name brand the first purchase just so I didn't get disappointed by a bunch of coasters.
