WASHINGTON, Iowa (AP) -- A southeast Iowa man is facing drug charges after police intercepted a FedEx package containing 34 pounds of marijuana and delivered it to him.

Police say Valencia Gutierrez was arrested after he received the package and tried to deliver the drugs.

The box was sent from Texas and routed through Chicago, where authorities became suspicious. The package was shipped to the FedEx depot in Mount Pleasant, where a drug-sniffing dog reacted to the contents.

Police delivered the package to Gutierrez in Columbus Junction.

He was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana and an Iowa drug tax stamp violation.

Shipping 34 pounds is RIDICULOUS....one could probably move a few pounds through the mail unnoticed, but its still really dumb. Weed is the one thing that I will probably never ship, or have shipped to me.

LOL I'm sure they don't sell too many. "Howdy, I'm the neigborhood dope dealer here to buy my drug tax stamps." yea, right.

It might be fun to collect them though, they are pretty cool looking.
