Arkansas: Yes or No?

Alright.

There have been many reports that certain types of shrooms don't grow in the southern states, and on this site's list of states with their respective species Arkansas isn't listed at all. But I was in the party from CaseyHook's post about conditions, and I personally found seven cubensis. We later found this to only be one full dose; the 7 mushrooms were consumed between two people and nothing occurred more than a light stoned feeling. The potency may have been reduced by the wet environment, but we don't know as no full dose was taken anyway. I want to believe real, healthy psilocybes grow here, especially cubensis, but I don't really know the correct conditions to find them. Can anyone verify that they've found any substantial amount of psilocybes (esp cubensis) in Arkansas, or at least give me some pointers on the weather (temp, rain?, humidity etc) that would be good for hunting them? Thanks in advance.

Well, it's getting too cold to find them now. If they do grow there I doubt they'd be growing past late September.

Whats the geography of Arkansas like? Very mountanious in your area?

There are some mountains, mostly it's just forest cover though. Anyway, we found the 7 in mid-october I think. Plus, Arkansas weather is really strange. It's not uncommon to have schorching heat and humid rainy days in the same week.

What are the lowest temps you guys hit in the winter?

Up around my home in GA, it drops down into the single digits(5-10F) in the winter because of the elevation. There isn't a cube to be found up there.

50 miles south(200-300 foot elevation change), at school, cubensis are pretty abundant. Lowest temps we see here all winter are around 15-20F.

Arkansas doesn't tend to get below freezing except maybe late December, early January. We don't even get snow every year. Right now it's overcast and 70 degrees, and it's already well into October...yesterday was warmer with clear skies and not nearly as humid as today :\

it looks to me from what I know that the 30th would be ideal assuming I found the places with rain and spores, but I don't know about the 57 degree mark. would this freeze them to death? Maybe some other reason this would or wouldn't work?

half my family lives just west of charleston, they all have land and i've seen shrooms growing out of the cowcrap but never identified them...... dunno... charleston is a 30-40 min drive e.s.e of ft.smith.

I have spent years putting out billions of spores (from the top of a mountain...) but only found those someone might have "helped along" a little.  :cool: I have not had the chance to go over any cow pastures, admittedly, but they do seem to have a bit of a natural struggle here - though both wood and dung eaters will do very well with a little attention. :smile:

I haven't gone on any hunts yet, but i will be soon. I live in the lower flat part of the state (north east, by the boot hill). I hope i have some luck, but a friend of mine is planing a grow to :smile:.

by Memphis you will find abundant cubes tons of them. i pick them often in west Memphis. Horse pastures are the best, look for the shit pile by the barn. any well kept horse stable will have a big pile of shit by it look there.most piles the farmer lets the weeds overgrow the pile providing adequate shade I am a believer that cubes grow in every southeastern state with abundance.
