Water
    #414381 - 10/05/01 02:06 AM (17 years, 2 months ago)

So Ive read that distilled water is better as the chlorine can inhibit growth..but its not a really big deal
Just curious
Does anyone know if a reverse osmosis filters out chlorine and any other weird...deposits that would cause problems?
I mean im sure its better just to spend a buck and be safe but.. I was curious anyway

For sure. But you?re telling you have a reverse osmosis apparatus at home??

Chlorine(more exactly sodium hypochlorite) decomposes to sodium cloride and oxigene when heated so it should not be a problem when used for preparing cakes.

Not that this matters at all but, today most municipal water treatment facilities use chlorine dioxide instead of sodium hypochlorite (bleach). Degrades to inert compounds the same though, don't even know why i'm posting, forgive me.....

Grenade,
Tap water
Distilled water
Spring water

All these work. I used to worry too.For the casing, I wouldn't use tap water if I had a choice. But a buck for spring or distilled wouldn't hurt.

Oh... Well I have some type of filtration device..it said reverse osmosis on the box when I got it ;-)
although I dunno really if thats what it is...
Its just one of those things you install under the sink... it takes up about half of the space down there
and you install a little side spout on top the sink where the water comes out..........
thats what I meant by reverse osmosis..whatever these things are called... I think i got it at home depot? hehe

I have a reverse osmosis system at my house, and it cost around $ 500 to aquire/ install. If you paid nowhere near this amount I doubt it is a true RO system. Mine says that it removes 99.8% of all impurities.
