Are you a Relativist?

If yes the why, if not then why not?

The idea for this thread is created from the thread titled "Absolute truth revisted (first philosophy), and further from the new Popes views of those that aren't fascist in their idealogies... erm I mean that are relativists.

Yes, but I apply absolutist principles to my own life so I can judge others and myself more effectively.

No. I guess I am an relativist if I must pick one.

What I am saying is that i don't live by relativist principles. I choose to adopt a absolutist position as it pertains to MY life because it makes some things easier. I am voluntarily going against my logical conclusions for simplicity.

Real life. Why shouldn't I go against my logical conclusions if they don't fit into my reality in an acceptable manner?

What if one came to the conclusion that anarchy was the only acceptable society for the good of humanity, and subsequently didn't apply himself in the real world and ended up a bum? On the flipside if he still accepted his theory that anarchy was the best thing for humanity, but still sought out power/money to lead a happy life.

It comes down to this

Pro: happiness
vs
Pro: conviction

You can weigh each issue according to how it fits your life, and lead accordingly. No reason to be stuck in your logic.
