Feds seize cocaine worth about $70 million
April 12, 2005

Federal drug agents made a huge drug bust. They seized cocaine worth millions of dollars and arrested three men who may have wanted to sell it in Chicago.

Eduardo Garza of Bensenville, Joel Garcia of Zion and Jose Gomez of Waukegan were arrested Monday at a Chicago restaurant. They allegedly tried to sell cocaine to an undercover agent.

Later, the agents went to a home in Waukegan connected to the men, where they found 350 kilograms of cocaine worth about $70 million. They also confiscated a gun and $20,000 in cash.

One of the reasons marijuana is illegal today because growers in the 30s lobbied against hemp farmers -- they saw it as competition, because It is not chemically addictive as is nicotine, alcohol, or caffeine.
