(Reuters) - Moroccan customs have seized 16 tonnes of cannabis resin stashed in a potato-laden lorry bound for France, the official news agency MAP reported on Saturday.

MAP quoted senior customs official Dalil Skali as saying the cannabis resin hidden in the potatoes was discovered just the lorry was about to be loaded onto a ship headed to France from Morocco's main business city Casablanca.

The haul, seized on Thursday, has a street value of 160 million dirhams (US$18.6 million), MAP said, adding police arrested the lorry driver, identified only as Spanish citizen, a French businessman and a Morrocan trader.

The biggest reported cannabis haul in Morocco weighed 19 tonnes and was seized in the northern Tangier five years ago.

I can't even begin to comprehend how you dispose of 16 tons of hash. That's like enough hash to get 20,000,000 people stoned as fuck.

The funniest thing I find about this, is after reading the seizure reports in this forum about marijuana here in the US, this 32,000 lbs of morrocan hash has only 1,500,000 more street value than 9,000lbs of brickweed in a detroit warehouse....WTF?!?!

maybe they accidently weighed the potatoes.... cause that's a SHITLOAD of resin.... uncomprehensible, really.... and unlikely true.

This comes from Robert Connell Clarke's book, Hashish!. That is 2,000 metric tons before being pressed with adulterants and binding agents to add more weight.

Conclusion, 16 tons=pocket change.
