moving soon should it be vegas or boulder, colorado?
    #3972855 -

Well this spring im moving and wondering which i should chose vegas or boulder. I know my cacti will do great in vegas but can you grow poppies outside if you sart them inside first there? boulder would probably be good for both and more uv for my poppies. Vegas laws are really harsh right now on herb but this november they are trying to decriminalize up to 3oz on your person. Boulder laws arent that bad either. Rent in the areas is about the same. Gambling and prostitution is legal in vegas also. with all this up and downs im not sure where to go. Does anyone know how much a oz of high grade goes for in vegas? That may play a big factor also because the more it costs the better. So what do you guys think vegas or boulder?

Well, I would think that Boulder would be the lesser of two evils. But then again, I'm not really a Las Vegas type of person. Given my druthers, I'd find a small town in the Pacific NW to live in, but that's just me...

I'd go with Boulder... and take up rock climbing. Vegas will get old quick.

Go to Vegas like everyone else, it has been the fastest growing city in America for several straight years now. There has to be many reasons for this.

Well, I may be bias on this one.... :smirk:

Vegas won't get old.  Theres tons of shit to do here outside of the "Strip".  I don't gamble and I never even go to casinos unless I am going to a movie theater or restaurant.  Theres some world class rock-climbing just a few minutes drive from my house.  And you are in a central location to most of the greatest parts of the Southwest US.  And there is a shitload of work here also.

Let me know if you decide on Vegas.  We'll get together for a beer!

I detest Vegas. I think it's wrong for millions of folks to live lavishly in the middle of the desert, chugging water and wasting electricity in obscene defiance of nature. The desert can't support the "american lifestyle", unless a great river is coralled and downstream inhabitants get the short end of the water/energy stick. So I would choose Boulder.

vegas is for visiting - not living.

it's a tough choice... they are really two completely different places...

i live in colorado now.. not boulder... but, i spent a lot of time in boulder for a long time..
my parents live in vegas...

so, i know a good bit about both...

here's my list of pros and cons for each

Vegas:  pros:  job market, gambling 24/7, nightlife,
cons:  weather(but, i hate hot hot weather), it's a real city, gambling 24/7, drug laws

Boulder:  pros:  good drugs, college town, near outdoors stuff everywhere, decent nightlife, less severe drug laws(except meth and all that, but that doesn't sound like it would be an issue), blackhawk casinos w/in 1hr, weather(if you like having seasons and cold)
cons:  college town, no 24/7 card tables, a bit expensive(no more so than vegas, though), if you're a smoker you can't smoke inside...

umm... in like 2min... that's what i can tell you...

i'd pick boulder over vegas as a place to live... i think of vegas as a vacation spot still.  boulder has a lot going for it.. i'm not sure about jobs, but it doesn't sound like you're too worried about the (legal) job market...

Houses are at a premium in Vegas, and they have all kinds of water conservation ordinances. I don't know squat about Boulder.
