i have. but only with fresh or freshly dried leaves. one joint of dried leaves was hard to manage to smoke to the end. chewing is very disgusting but works wonders. takes a lot of leaves, is 'wasteful' but is well worth the try, like a famous report says 'the transition is unnoticiable'...

Felix, How many leaves does one have to chew for a strong experience?
EDIT: Captain, i've had an overwhelming experience with plain leaf but it wasn't a breakthrough. Just the 'pull', ridiculously strong, but not enough to go all the way. I found it kind of unpleasant.
With extract i usually only feel the pull for 2 seconds or so and than i'm in...
EDIT2: If you spent money in plain leaf and have a good amount of it you can go buy some pure IPA or Acetone and extract it yourself. It's very easy.

isopropyl alcohol, right?
I prefer plain leaf. Seems to me, and others I've talked to, that freshly dried plain leaf is intesely strong. Stronger ever than store bought extracts used as comparative samples.
Dose is:
smoke huge bong hoots and hold them as long as you can. You probably wont get past 4. I never do, but some people are "hard heads," which basically means they dont get effects from salvia, somehow.

Ohhh, so all those dried leaves I have been storing recently I could just smoke and get high? I was planning on doing an extraction myself... but I guess just smoking it would be interesting.

I think the dosage would have been about 1 to 2 grams, although I didn't smoke all of it. What I had to do is quickly inhale very large tokes repeatedly, holding them in for about 20 seconds each. It was very difficult and the inside of my lip was actually a bit burned by the smoke.
However, compared now to the experiences I've had with extract this trip was not that strong, but I did still break through.

i prefer straight fresh leaf myself, best expieriences. Not a complete brick to the head feeling, creeps in pleasently and then just as it came disperses back into the natural surroundings.

yes
3 big tokes held 20 seconds each
ignition had lighter over leaf for full time
I prepared 3 pipes in advance. took one refresher breath between each toke.
it was astonishing.

thats an understatement. Said he got a pound from mexico. Was passing around fresh bong loads for free. I smoked a1/3 to half a gram in one rip, barley got the bong to some one else before the whole world was lying ontop of me and i was a puddle tyed up in chains. All i could see whas my Gf and the Guy, i could only see there faces. I just sat there mumbling till it wore off. trying to unwrap my feet from the "chains" that was really actually the tent ropes. I fell into the tent.....

Somebody mentioned "freshly dried leaves"
Do they not keep long after they are dried?

mycophyle, with most herbs, the longer they're in the cupboard dry, the less potency they have. For longer storage keep away from light. I've gotten cheap jars from the craft store and painted them with glass paint to protect from light.... also nice for color coding.
I havn't had the chance to try salvia much. I'm hoping to grow... I just need to find seeds or cuttings without costing entirely too much (I hate it when people use Mother Nautre for greed... and $60 for a plant is greed...).

I never heard of any one selling a plant for 60 dollars, I would by it for 60 if it was a small bush more so then a cutting.
