a weird band... they sound all fluffy and old-fashioned until you listen to the lyrics...

One of the best lyrics in existence is:

"We're four boys in our courdoroys
We're not terrific but we're competent"

Pure genius.

so like, who are they? a 'collective'? are the songs attributed to one person? for some reason it seems like a collective to me.

some of their orchestrations are sloppy...anyone notice that?

i'm a big big fan, myself. seen them once in concert, outside of detroit. "dear catastrophe waitress" is my least favourite cd of theirs, probably because the previous female vocalist left the band and they got a good one. my favourite CD of theirs is "the boy with the arab strap", probably because of this one crazy fusion number where he is talking about a dream he went to mars.

of course, i could never pirate any music online () ... but if anybody wants any of the live shows of theirs that i have (all bootlegs anyhow) just PM me.
