hygrometer

where can I find a hygrometer(lowes, wal-mart)? Are they digital and how much are they? Do you place them inside your terranium to get a correct reading on humidity? Also I was thinking about getting the Peurto Rican strain syringe. Would they have much success on a BRF and verm. cakes if done the right way? Just curious.

Walmart sells a decent digital hygrometer for 15 or 20 bucks. You can put them directly inside your terrarium, but this one even has a weatherproof remote sensor that you could rig up into your chamber. Pretty cool.

$2.00 at target for a manual hygrometer... where they sell humidifiers. (Looks like a mini round thermomiter.)

(All hygrometers have to be calibrated, digital is great, but 2 manual hygrometers that are calibrated are just about as acurate as you are going to need.)

The point is not that you have EXACTALY 90% RH, but more that it is not between 0% - 60% RH, which will work, but take longer. 65% - 85% RH is better, 85% - 95% is best.

Even if your hygrometer is off by 10%... 10% off a reading of 75%RH = 70%-80% RH. (The 10% = +/- 5%, when acurately calibrated with a salt test.)
