washing hair/dust particles from dmt crystals..?

so it's a week later and my friend has finished his first dmt extraction. to his delight, upon coming home from work he discovered very nice looking small snow white crystals, still wet with solvent. eager to help them dry, he put a fan on it. the fan must have stirred up the air, because when my friend checked a couple hours later, the crystals were almost dry, but there was a bunch of tiny lint like hairs and fibers stuck all over the drying surface. the crystals have been scraped and collected, but mixed in is all the debris.  :sad:

what my friend is wondering, is if there was a simple way to wash the crystals, which themselves seem damn pure. dmt in this form shouldnt dissolve in water right? if he put the crystals in a small amount of distilled water, the hairs would float, he could scoop them off, and evap the water until he has just crystals again. would this work? or is there a better way? :confused:

I would say use acetone or perhaps isopropyl alcohol. It evaporates quicker and would have the added benefit of cleaning the crystals themselves of any impurities.

Hair and dust in your crystals?

Haha, that sucks. Just do the crystals with the crap on. A little extra protien never did anyone any harm.

so 90% isopropyl alcohol would work just fine right? and the crystal would sink to the bottom?

dmt, bongs, flesh wounds... what won't alcohol clean!? :grin:

90% should be fine, but the crystals will dissolve, not sink. Of course it is still just a matter of evaporation.

I would recommend the following:

1. Dissolve the crystals & gunk in alcohol
2. Filter with coffee filter or other fine filter
3. Evaporate
4. Enjoy :grin:
