Stop The Static! Bad MP3 Quality? please post comment.

Lately I have been downloading some .mp3 files over Peer 2 Peer network Via http://www.gnutella.com/ I'm wondering if these are the files that are "static" sounding, or is my sound card blown out. because all my games are sounding fine so I don't think its the speakers.

Is this a new thing were people are making the .mp3 quality sound bad as a way to purchase the CD for full quality? I'm guessing that ugly beeping sound 25 seconds into the mp3 file is being updated with this new theory of bad quality mp3 files to boost record sales?.

i quit using peer to peer when those files came out be careful i have lost speakers due to that noise. what i always was lead to believe was that the riaa put out bad copies of songs on purpose people would download them and other ppl so on and so on till it is very hard to get a good copy of the song.

Yeah, they blew out some of my headphones, its a good thing it was my cheap ones. I got to get another pair of cheap ones now. I don't want to use my ATH-W1000's although they could probably take it. Gonna keep those studio quality.

Pretty lame though, those files are pissing me off.
