incubation humidity
    #362003 -

I have 10 jars all between 85-95% colonized..they have been at avg 84degrees and
began with 99% humidity in a styrofoam cooler using perlite humidification/ reptile heater.
But recently humidity is about 80%. I am going away for 5 days and leaving them at
room temp approx 68-80degrees. Should I go ahead and drench the perlite so it
raises the humidity back up to 99% or leave them the hell alone. My last jars were jar super
dry and never fruited..soo I am being cautious.
this time.. Using micron magik disks/doubled over
jar with dry vermic at top/substrate is finch seed/brf. I am going to bring one eq jar with me
on camping trip to see if I can fruit while we are there.

You don't really need to worry about the humidity while your jars are colonizing. As long as your substrate contains the proper moisture content, all you need to do it keep the temp between 82-86 degrees (many people have variations on their opinion as to the exact temerature range). It's only after you have birthed or did a case that is recovered that you need to be concerned with the humidity factor.

all righty.. but this is what I read from micron magik.. although they don't give a humidity
recomendation which is what I'm looking for.. or perhaps you don't agree at all..

Storage

I HIGHLY recommend that you keep your jars in a incubation chamber. We used a
plastic container (colored NOT translucent) with an inch of wet Perlite. Only
difference between this and some of your fruiting chamber is no hole cut in the top to
let light in.
This will help make sure your substrate stays at it's proper moisture content. The
container can then be wrapped in an electric blanket set to medium to keep the temp
at 84-86F, for quick colonization.

depending on how long your camping trip is you could birth them now. Then just drench your perlite again. If you do then take a nail and get it red hot at the flat end and singe the spots that aren't covered with mycelium. (sp?)

Ted: "Uh yeah, and I got you this paper bag to stop you from looking like James Brown in the Morning."
Darlene: "Oh come now, I don't look anything like James Brown."
Ted: "Hey kids, who does your mom look like in the morning?"
Kids... in unison: "James Brown!"
Darlene, "All right, thats enough... It's poison spaghetti for dinner tonight."
