That reminds me.
Remember in The Big Lebowski, how there's the self-proclaimed nihilists, who were really a bunch of punk kids, and then there was Walter, who was the real nihilist. He seriously didn't give a fuck about anything, would even pull a gun over a bowling score?

Well, I'm nothing like either of them, but I'm still kind of a nihilist, only I'm happy and friendly and don't really listen to Skinny Puppy or anything.

From the dictionary:
" A doctrine holding that all values are baseless and that nothing can be known or communicated."

I pretty much agree with that, but I have all kinds of values that I support. I don't like hurting others or seeing others get hurt, and there are a bunch of different standards I've somehow set for myself that I would feel disapointed if I didn't meet.

"Rejection of all distinctions in moral or religious value and a willingness to repudiate all previous theories of morality or religious belief."

Warmer. A lot of the "morality" originating from, or supported by religion is based more in bigotry or nonsense than anything. Or it had a logical basis in an ancient desert culture, but doesn't apply now.

"Nihilism A diffuse, revolutionary movement of mid 19th-century Russia that scorned authority and tradition and believed in reason, materialism, and radical change in society and government through terrorism and assassination."

Ok, no, that's not me. Reason, YES, 19th century Russia, violence and terrorism, NO.

"A delusion, experienced in some mental disorders, that the world or one's mind, body, or self does not exist."

Probably not me... what would the symptoms of this be? Doing absolutely nothing? I guess that sounds kinda like me  :stoned:

In this respect I would have to agree... but I think I'm a far-cry from a nihilist. :smile:
