shrooms in maine not identified yet
    #338968 - 06/12/01 07:21 AM (23 years, 8 months ago)

If anyone can help me out, there was an article in the local paper about 8-10 yrs. ago
that showed a shroom that was small and I think had a brown and cone shaped cap,was also small, anyway this is the bad part, the reason that it was in the paper was this botony student went and ate over an ounce fresh and decided to go swiming and drownd(sp). But before I go and pay the paper company money to look up the article, I would like your input on what the mushroom might have been, it doesn't match either of the two listed by MJ Shroomer. Also I have read that lib caps grow in nova scotia(sp) which isn't very far away.
the shroom grew in portland, maine, I beleive.
this is all ten year old memorys, so I might be wrong in part of this.
thanks,
Zero

Probably Psilocybe caerulipes or Panaeolus subbalteatus.
