Good to see you old timer.

I'm just stopping in to warm up, get a little grub, watch a little football then head back out for the last 2.5-3 hours of day light.

I love the forest! I wouldn't mind a little snow out there to tell ya the truth.

Im so jealous of you folks that live near forests and whatnot. Im stuck in the city for now, though its not all bad. I would prefer to have the option to go hiking whenever I want though.

I'm glad to see that the consensus is that it's a beautiful day everywhere  I'm just hanging out, smoked a bowl, reading a bit...anyone ever read 'doors of perception'?  It's about a guy experimenting with mescaline and documenting it.  Anyway, :peace: to you, friends..everyone enjoy the day

Yesterday afternoon was even better than the morning. I ended up on the edge of a narrow strip of corn field which is surrounded by thick forest on 3 sides. I seen a few does grazing so I decided to stay put and watch them from about a hundred yards, after a few minutes a fox ran thru the oppisite side of the field the deer where on. With in 15 minutes of my arrival several other deer began to fill in other areas of the feeding area and before long about 10 were out there. At this time I'm over whelmed and can't really decide what to watch when I spot a very large rutting buck jumping a fence into the field, he immediatly started chasing does around looking for one in heat with no luck they all ran from him. He didn't give up to easy and kept at up untill it was really to dark for me to tell what was going on. During all this I got with in 12 feet of two does which never noticed or smelled me, a few others were with in 30 yards.

Pretty exciting night, at the end I had to belly crawl under a fence and thru a plum thicket to sneak off with out disturbing the deer, I don't want to break any patterns. I did manage to sneak away unnoticed, I don't think I disturbed anything the entire time I was tehre. I am fucking pumped for this weekend already.

I figured a buck would show with all those doe in one place......he was most likely very close by for quite a while waiting for a sense of security before he showed himself.

Yeah and it was the fucking night time the damn nocturnal bastard. He showed up about 15 minutes after sunset, he stayed close to the woodline untill about about the time it got to dark to tell the difference in any of the deer. In daylight I can see a difference, there are several does and bucks I see alot I've began to pick up individuals and get to know their habits from frequenting the same spot so much lately. This guy new exactly what he was doing, he didn't venture out into an serious open spaces untill it was dark. Them big dudes are smart.

I should of had my camera with me I forgot it in my car.

haha, that wouldn't be cool. The biggest one I seen this year was a nice 10, not a monster but a pretty big guy. He came up a fence line going north, got to right where I crossed the fence and turned around and went south, right back around where he came from and circled up wind 75 yards and walked back north out of my site.

That son of a gun smelled my track.

Nothing but whitetails, some of the biggest antlers in the world in Iowa, huge bodys also but nothing like some I've seen in Canada. My dad shot a 9 point buck that wieghed 309 lbs(estimated) with his muzzleloader a few years ago, the largest sized deer I've ever seen. His nose touched the ground and his feet were clear up in the rafters.
