Are Spore prints detectable in the mail?

Hi everyone!
I'm new to all of this, I'm a bit paranoid, and I'd like someone to tell me about how safe it is to send spore prints through the mail. Are they detectable at all without actually opening the envelope, by dogs or whatever? Right now, I live in Japan, and they have some pretty strict laws over here, so I need to be as discreet as possible. I would especially like to hear from anyone who has sucessfully shipped/recieved spores to/in Japan.

I doubt any customs administration ever trains dogs to specifically sniff out cubensis spores and there most certainly are no machines that could do the same (like the sensors that can detect explosives in airports). Considering most mail is lost in the traffic of other mail, discreet letters are typically not checked/scanned. I would say you are fine so long as your envelope is in good condition, postage is sufficient, and mailing/return address are correct. Make the letter has discreet and normal looking as possible. I would even label the print something other than what it is (a legal edible) just in case the unthinkable happens.

Be careful, just yesterday i got a few seeds in the mail. All legal, thank god.

But the envelope came torn in half, glued with tape had a stamp on it saying 'damaged due to enclosure'. It all came inside a USPS envelope with a written appology from them.

It had never happened to me before in the countless number of letters i received in my life, but i could be in trouble if there was something illegal in that one envelope...

As far as i know, spores can't be detected unless the envelope is X-rayed, someone opens it or something like what happened to my yesterday's letter occurs.

It is highly unlikely that a plain old envelope with a sporeprint on plastic or paper is going to be found, though. Just think about the thousands of letters that go through japanese borders everyday...
I'm not sure about prints on tinfoil and metal detectors, though.

i have received many letters with prints inside, here in Japan. No problems if it is kept exactly like a normal letter, very thin, one sheet of paper no special tape a return adress (wich could be fake) etc...
Don't even think about packages though, in all the years spent here nearly all my packages were opened...they looks closely on gaijins, never forget it !
