Just heard this on the radio. No link to offer yet. Probably my least favorite Bushie, ever since he covered Justice's fine tit. Feh, he's gone. Who's next?

The Bush administration just became 10,000x more tolerable.

Agreed. No small victory, either!
For some reason, I felt no surprise over this.

It had been discussed for quite some time that Ashcroft would probably be the first to go. It's not easy doing these jobs and he was not a young man. He was also the tallest lightning rod in the administration.

A great day for American civil liberties and this administration. If a few hawks followed suit, we'd actually be in halfway decent shape.

I agree. My main problem with Bush is the shady people he associates himself with.

My theory:
Now that Bush won re-election, he will move more towards the Moderate Right (He no longer needs to woo the Religious right). This will set the stage for a moderate cantidate in '08... like Guiliani or McKain. Look for fewer Neo-cons in the next 4 years.
Ashcroft's obsolete... so's Rummie (I'm keeping my fingers crossed), Rice is probably out as well (She had that memo... "Bin Laden Plans To Attack America" oops!).

here is a piece from this article:
http://sentencing.typepad.com/sentencing_law_and_policy/2004/11/pondering_a_pos_2.html
Some of the buzz I have seen and heard is that former Deputy Attorney General Larry Thompson may be the front-runner to replace AG Ashcroft. Thompson, in addition to already having the endorsement of TalkLeft, would be the country's first African-American attorney general. However, this pre-election law.com article, says other"possible nominees include: White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales; Bush's campaign chairman Marc Racicot, former governor of Montana; and former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani."

Rudy would be an excellent choice. Right background and well schooled in the balance between individual liberties and the interests of the general public.

I dont think they can get any worse either. In my opinion they might get better based on the fact people claim bush did coke and pot in his earlier years. He won his second and final election, why not follow through with his personal views now? He can pretty much propose any bill now without fear of losing votes. I hope he dumps this religion BS that he has been parading with for the past 4 years. Its old and not needed. Anyway, I am pretty sure the replacement will be a lot better.
