My family and I are thinking about moving to Atlanta. The burbs of NY are getting to expensive to live. I have to young kids so the school systems and quality of education is very important. I am use to being in NY where everything is very accessible, how is the social scene in Atlanta? Music, Arts, of course mushies, herb, etc... Of course we will be doing additional research but if anyone is living there now I would greatly appreciate some feedback. I am also a big Deadhead, Jazz, Blues , Reggae you know all music that flows so of course a thriving music scene is very important. Thanks for the help!!!

i live in Atlanta well....i used to live in-town now i live in the n.Georgia mountains. but here is a run down of what to expect: music-great and being a deadhead i know lots of good people for ya. arts-great museums and galleries plus the theater scene is thriving. mushies-we have the one and only ps.weilii and it is everywhere.oh yeah and plenty of chocolates year round. herb-mostly beasters some headies in from ashville on occasion. all in all i love Atlanta are you looking to move in town or suburb? if so where?

Another plus, the Atlanta Braves. Raise your kids under the influence of the most professional team in existence

Yea i used to Live in east setauket, Long Island and i can tell you one thing, the taxes are a lot better down here. One thing that is not as good as the northern states is the constant heat that always seems to be upon us, except for maybe the winter. Very little snow. I live in Alpharetta right now and i can tell you that the schools are very good around here. Other than that... keep on truckin.

I live in Alpharetta and it is pretty nice, in comparison to how close we actually are to the heart of Atlanta, which is about 20 minutes with no traffic... Alpharetta is Fulton county and we have the highest paying teachers in the United States...
If you are worried about price? Houses here can be expensive.. There are a lot of good apartment options, but for a house you are looking at 200 minimum if you wanna live within the city limit.
Gas is 2.00 for regular.. Weed is kind of hard to find a good hookup. brick weed is easy to come by as always, yet for 'dro' your gonna be paying 40-50 an eighth and it might not even be worth it. As far as mush?, Well, one word : Weilii
