I don't see why not. It's still water, it hasn't changed chemical structure or anything. Water doesn't have any nutrients. It's water. Use it.

yes it is the object is to add moisture and oxygen unlike misting that has water droplet's to small to hold much oxygen
and will cause the mycelium not to grow

remember, behind every great fortune there is an even greater crime

carefull, this kid i know tried dunking for the first time the other day. took a cake which was looking kinda ugly blueing and such, not producing any fruits, placed in (alcohol sterilized) 1/2 pint jar and used distilled spring water straight from the bottle to fill up and put the cap on tight. next day (less than 24hours) took it out and placed in terranium. a few hours later he said the aquarium smelled like a tart apple. :( sounds like his first contam. :(

wiping the jar with alcohol is what did, when he placed the water in it it soaked into the cake

Using alcohol is all right, but you should flame it or allow for a very extended period of time for it to evap..no sense endangering your babies.

distilled water is completely lacking in minerals, it's ok to use but bottled spring water is better.
