Gather round yinz, tighten your tinfoil.
Ol' TJ gonna share his his weird ones.
I wanna just say first, I figure there is a much, much greater chance that life exists in many places besides Earth than not, but I don't necessarily claim that any of the following anecdotes were actually perpetrated by aliens.
What actually went down, I don't know, which is why they qualify as "UFO" sightings in my mind.
First, little TJ, aged 8(?), walking with neighborhood hooligans up the street. An old man we often spoke with stepped off his porch and excitedly pointed at the clear blue sky.
"Look!"
In the sky there flew one of the oddest things I've ever seen. It looked like two circular rings of whitish balloons, and they were both rotating at an end if an egg shaped object. We all watched, 4 or 5 of us.
I asked the old man what he was. All he did was shrug.
I persisted, little TJ was very logical. It's gotta be a weather balloon right?
"I've never seen anything like that."
Years later when I heard about the Wheels of Izekiel it reminded me strongly of it, and later when I saw artist's renditions of the Wheels, some examples were damn near identical.
Fast forward, 18 year old TJ is cruising down his street with Big Earl in a 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Coming downhill and around a corner, something that I almost couldn't see (weird to say) flew straight up in front of the car very quickly, like we had surprised it. I almost didn't say anything, trick of the light?
"Did you just see that?" Big Earl rumbled.
Yep....
It kind of had an insectish shape maybe, or it maybe was a craft that had bits that fluttered, either way, it almost looked like giant heat waves off of pavement in a way but definitely wasn't for sure, it was different, hard to say how, but that's what it reminded me of.
Fast forward again to 20 year old TJ. Ol' TJ fucked up bad with oxycontin and then heroin, almost died, probably was supposed to but that's another story. Anyway I'm in rehab. This is absolutely, without a doubt, where I saw the most weird shit in the sky in my life.
It wasn't just any rehab. Not a 12 step place, scientology based, no meds for withdrawl.
This place was 3 1/2 hours north of Las Vegas in the mountains of absolute fucking nowhere. Closest town had a population of 1000, next town over was a solid two hour drive. To the north about 50 miles was the "Proving Grounds" for nuclear weapons. Also nearby was the supposed site of Area 51, it was all government restricted airspace. We saw fighter jets in formation all the time (very cool).
Now this place was so remote from light pollution that that stars were unbelievable. You could see shooting stars every night if you looked long enough. The stars were like a blanket across the sky, much easier to imagine how our ancestors attached stories to constellations, they do look suggestive.
Anyway, first weird thing.
TJ is walking in the desert by himself, thinking TJ thoughts about how the fuck did I get here.
I see a jet way up in the sky. Little more than a dot. I'm watching it.
It's gone.
Not, oh, it's way the fuck over there in the empty blue sky. It's just gone.
Then BBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!
Earthshattering rumble, could feel it in my body.
I'm trying to piece this together. Obviously broke the sound barrier, but, how could that make the whole fucking thing disappear? It didn't speed up, or drop, or anything. It was just gone.
Next one. I'm living in a tree house in the desert as part of the rehab program (that's a whole story too). I'm doing laundry at the base of the tree house, in a little room maybe 4 feet partially down into the earth.
Clothes ain't dry. Give them a minute. Smoking a cigarette, watching those amazing stars. But..
What's that? A dim light on the horizon.
Quick as a flash the dim light spreads like a blanket across the sky which turns blue, the stars disappear.
I hear a distant CRACK.
The light retreats, a blanket of darkness and stars assumes ownership of the sky.
I run down into the laundry room and squeeze between the machines, fairly certain that was a nuke and this whole civilization jig is up, nice while it lasted.
But only silence. I run up the stairs into the tree house, OMG DID YOU SEE THAT!?!?
"Are you high?"
No dude, I swear this light...!
"If you have drugs I won't tell, just share with me."
No dude, seriously!
"I saw it too!" Says crackhead Bill.
Good ol' crackhead Bill.
I saw on the news the next day that supposedly a meteorite the size of stove landed in Colorado to the North.
Last one, years later, 35 year old TJ is sky watching one night and sees a perfectly spaced line of maybe 8 white lights streak across the sky on more than one night. That one ended up on the news and supposedly we're satellites.
Yep. Long. Those are probably the most memorable ones from my life though.
If you read that long ass thing good on ya!
