Somebody, in this thread I think, was saying there is no proof trump likes putin.  Uhh. Ok?  There will never be proof in thier minds cause trump is an orange god.

yeah it was within the last week or so too.  they are fucking idiots.

I think Trump's ties to Russia are quite well established at this point. He is a traitor.

He seriously ought to be impeached. If he hasn't crossed enough lines for impeachment, where the fuck is the line?

It also sounds to me like trump wants to tout Russia selling the US diesel, then blame Ukraine if the 3 million tonnes he claimed isnt delivered.

Thats my bet.

I guess my problem with the Russian enemy product bad argument is its bullshit. Russia already off loaded there oil, to China and India and off load profits through colonized Africa nations.  Ukraine self determination is all you got why should support them. Nothing has screwed you over more foreign policy wise in the last decade then supporting Ukraine for once unlike 2014. Yes trumps an asshole and a dick to all nations including nato allies.  But he was just as much of an asshole in his first time, Ukraine aid is what broke off relationships with our European allies. Showing the weakness of America and let military might swing to drones vs standard military period.

The sanctions on Russia were for the invasion of Ukraine, which is still ongoing. That context is why the diesel deal is questionable.

And now he sanctions the ICC for retaliation over not getting the nobel peace prize.

It would be good to hear his views on whether he agrees with the sanctions that were put in place for Russia early on.

Unless this is about him trying to cover his own ass from the problem he created.

This Russia deal wouldn't have been necessary or attractive if trump hadnt illegally started a war in iran and gotten the oil shipping lanes bottlenecked.

You had minor sanctions on Russia before not majors ones you have now. If you let Russia have the nation they invented themselves to began with you wouldn't have hurt our allied nations.
Russian sanctions strengthen Russia allies of China and India and Iran with cheap oil,gas and weapons exports. Russia having to trade shells for getting north Korean battle experience, rocket technology and nuclear submarines fucked eastern warfare by a decade.
French former colonial governments shifted to being clients state for Russia instead of French.  Also leading to more Islamic terrorism rise in said states to the point where government have had been temporarily overthrown.  The massive consequences of which is the millions who will die in Africa from the current Civil War across the continent.

French, Germany, Danish have alt right party's rise in there election because of the immigration problem caused by Ukraine.
But you know I'm  sure that all those dead Russians and Ukrainians are worth there "freedom " in democracy.

Ukraine was defended as part of a treaty for them giving up their nukes that the USA would protect ukraine.

There's no guarantee Russia wouldn't push further, again, close enough to attack the allied nations..

Which sounds similar to the russian argument for nato expansion.

What then about Russian expansion?

I think the argument or debate really is just about whether youre pro colonialism or not.

Weakening the Putin regime is reason enough.

If you can't see how that's in our best interest... especially at a time where American hegemony was weakening. Support Ukraine, stand up to Israel(diplomatically, and not really at all),  and America would have secured its image and role in the world for another generation but of course Trump had to get reelected.

And besides self interest it's genuinely in the worlds best interest to not let people like Putin operate unchecked.

as soon as trump announced this shit, Ukraine immediately hit the most likely export terminal for this diesel.  the Ukrainians aren't stupid and they know very well what trump is trying to pull here.

and good for them.

edit: as a frame of reference, this entire "deal" trump announced would yield about 10 days worth of diesel at the USA's current consumption rates.  we'll send the money, russia won't send shit.  even if they sent it, it would be an inconsequential drop in the bucket.  meanwhile trump is imposing sanctions on (aka shaking down) other countries for buying russian oil.  this is an entirely contrived scheme to send American taxpayer money to russia.  trump will claim russia is prevented from delivering because of Ukraine's attacks, and viola we're back to trump/conservatives attacking Ukraine and providing both soft (PR/political) and materiel support to the russians.
