So I was on my way back from class today when this dude comes up to me and starts talking to me. I recognize him as someone who was just in my class. I was headed to my apartment and he was going the same way so we start talking about the class and other random shit. Eventually I get to my street and tell him I'll see him around. Then he goes....























































































"Hey you wanna have dinner with me sometime?"

WTF???? :eek: I told him I was straight and quickly walked off.

Now, I have no problem with gay people but I was really fucking offended. This never happened to me before and I never thought I would be pissed off by this sort of situation but I am. Now I know what chicks think when guys try to hide their interest behind the 'friend' role.

Has this happened to any guys or gals here? Tell your story.

I got asked to dance a few times before but I was never offended, I'd probably of done the same as you minus the being pissed part. Maybe you should of smacked him in the nuts and walked off slowly laughin.

I have been in situations like that before. I wsa camping in the golden gate park for a couple weeks once, and met this gutter punk kinda dude. I had nothing but time so we smoked a j and became pals. He told me he would show me around.So we walked around much of the day. He would stop at peoples houses and tell me to waite out side he would say this guy ows me money. So me being inocent me was like k. So after the evening of walking around we hit up this bar called some thing oyster. We walk in and its all dudes, We go to this table this guy gets us both Martinies I swig it down and tell him I got to get going. My friedn then decides to tell me what he has been up to all day and I am like, "damn" he then tells me I could make 50 bucks a Bj if I trick with him. I was lik edude I am not like that and I would rather get a real job then polish fuckin brass.


After going to the Bar and getting eyes lookin all up and down on me I understand how it is to be a women in a bar. Its like a meat market. I learned a lot about respect those days on the streets.

Like when your walking down the block an you need to walk past a bunch of brothers. I will stop 15 feet away from them and ask them with a loud clear voice if I have promission to pass. Its all about respect man.

Some middle aged man tried to pick me up at the park while I was mushroom hunting, asking me if I "Went to hot tub parties" and shit. It was funny, but after he kept following me around I started to get irritated and asked him if he usually tried to pick up young men at the park and if his wife knew what he was up too. It was weird as hell.

Dude when ur a whit boy in the fuckin ghetto you better walk with respect and if you need to walk threw a croud you better go with respect. Yeah I am serious and I like to be alive at the end of the day. Some places life aint no joke. They understand whats up and they know they have an upper hand and if you dont respect them by asking they wont respect you when you walk by.

That sounds like something Woody Allen or Sol Rosenberg would do. I lived in Black Harlem for 5 months and I never once considered asking any of the groups of kids for permission to pass them by.

I was randomnly walking around a Boston park, and I see some mushrooms, and they were edible so im like Ooo and look at em. Some 40 year old black dude walks up to me and is like whats up.
"Hi, just looking at these mushrooms"
"Whats your name"
"mike.."
"Well mike, you know, some mushrooms are poisonous."
"..yeah, I know. I study ... mushrooms. These are cool"

Not if its a bunch of white college kids. But if I am in a part where the only ocupation is crime you need to tread lightly. They take you serious when you look em in they eye and ask if you may pass. I am not going to walk across the street to get around them.

I wouldnt ask some kids if I can walk by. And I wouldnt do it if i didnt need to, just some situations cerdecy is needed.

Harlem isnt the worst yeah its bad but when I was young I would be in spanish harlem right of the bridge talkin and coping purple haze from some puerto ricans. I never once asked for permision in that area.
