Weird I was strangely active on this site for the first time in a while including posting in this very thread where I almost never post, a little over 7 months ago, when BTC was hitting its peak (I checked a few months ago anyway to see where it was sitting and it'd fallen from over 110k to like 70k... given that's the OG cyrpto I think it's only a matter of time until it's over 100k again, if it isn't already).  Anyway in the meantime I'd been paying close attention to said PC parts and prices, and trickling down to people that aren't even avid gamers but just take lots of photos/videos, or are professionals in related fields where data storage is important - across the board memory prices are way up, whether that be SSDs, microSDs, flash drives, RAM, and even/especially GPUs, as that's where incidentally most storage is kept or is most useful for all these data centers and why mid to high end gaming GPUs are priced similar to what you could buy an entire solid gaming build for like 6-7 years ago, and then the "high end" GPUs (once still affordable to heavy gamers with pretty cushy incomes) are in the low thousands, and then there's GPUs costing like 10k a pop which could probably easily power like 10 different 4k monitors at once without breaking a sweat AKA I'm pretty sure those are built for data centers.

For whatever reason (I don't know nearly enough about PCs to explain this adequately) but the video RAM on your GPU is analogous to the RAM on your PC otherwise, just on normal PCs that's always been flexible and you can buy a good CPU with the option to buy as much or as little RAM as you think you want/need or can afford, but with GPUs they come as one package.  Also, for whatever reason, maybe because processing visual data is way more labor inducing than producing words i.e. "chatgpt, type me an essay about (vs) chatgpt, paint me a picture of" but CPUs that come specifically made with NPUs on them specifically for AI processing, get blown out of the water in TOPS compared to what GPUs can produce without even needing an NPU.  Make of all of this what you will, but I think there's a reason that in the past 6 months RAM and SSDs and GPUs in particular are at all time, ridiculous highs, and any time ANY of these items goes on a flash sale on amazon or best buy or micro center or new egg, etc, they sell out in minutes to hours with people who have no intention of actually using them buying whatever they're allowed to buy at most (often 10) and there are often disclaimers stating that these items are trying to be sold for personal use only and no for resale, hence the *** and strong language and limits on your cart maximum.  Sales on GPUs are way less common, similarly RAM is in a similar boat, but SSDs will sometimes see flash sales, I think best buy had one on an 8TB external SSD the other day, and it was entirely sold out before noon.  Basically, anything relating to investing in memory for data (this has even affected phone pricing, although not as much since there are way more consumers that would be mad, and also the requirements in hard drive data for a phone is way lower than for a high end PC or something).

If I had the spare cash for such things at the moment, I'd probably invest in these things.  I don't think this whole AI boom is ultimately going to go as far as its being sold as ("the CEOs are acting like it'll fix every problem in the world") but I think they're still able to generate enough investor hype that I don't see the bubble bursting anytime soon, so to speak.  Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

The AI buildout is, more or less, singlehandedly driving the market's resilience at the moment.

We've all heard about NVDA non-stop, but stocks like MU and SNDK have been even bigger winners lately.

Energy infrastructure plays, often from cryptocurrency mining operators that have pivoted to service data center/hyper-scalers, like IREN and WULF are also benefitting handily.

Here's a nice little visual aid to explain why these companies are becoming darlings of the investor cohort.

What do you guys think of SOXL? It's a 3x semiconductor ETF.. wish I found this sooner though I've been happy with the SOXX I bought. I might put in a buy on Monday but it feels risky.

Full send! Took my profits from the last year or so investing and put it into SOXL. About $13000 worth. It's the most I feel comfortable with putting into it.

Wish me luck.

Will update.

Got my ass kicked today and pulled the plug. Heavy losses. Didn't think it was going that way yet. Back into XEQT. Never again with leverage.

Watch this indicator

https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/INDEX-MMTH/

And look at how when it's below 20 it lines up with market bottoms

MMTH below 20, I would consider leverage acceptable

Can also use VIX as a contrarian indicator

https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/CBOE-VX1!/

Low VIX (15 or below = reduce risk)

High VIX (30 or above = increase risk)

Ahh dang that’s a bummer, with the trade you’d mentioned earlier? Yah leverage is a wild ride

Yea it didn't work out well. That's twice this year I've made bad choices with stocks. I bought a Canadian gold mining company which just kept dropping. Couldn't bear it.

I'm only in XEQT now and a similar mutual fund. I barely keep any cash in chequing account. Pretty much kept everything invested now for 5 years in diverse products. Not sure why I'm gambling again.

Not fully sure - but would guess that the dopamine rush with a good up day feels nice, and even more so on a quick leveraged gain. Stinkin animal behaviors!

I’m locked into long term positions and found excitement even checking tickers every morning that were up one day, or down, even though there’s no chance of selling. Completely unnecessary practice, but still do it from time to time :smirk:

Watched NVTS do nearly a round trip in my kiddos custodial roth ira. shes still 2x on it, but man it was looking good at 5x, and i was like wow did i strike gold lol..

Its such a long term account i dont want to be messing around, literally just plop some money in each year and let it ride, otherwise i probably wouldve sold at 30!

I feel like now is a good time to start looking into energy infrastructure and copper. I think that will be the new "shovels" industry for the AI gold rush, and the ovararching transition from petroleum to electricity that seems to be on the horizon.
