with regard to intrusive thoughts being similar to  SSS - stuck song syndrome, this part of the wikipedia article highlights a finding - the link being OCD, however, we are all to some extent OCD, so I put that as a weakness in modern psychology/psychiatry.

In my view it is the proper operation of short term memory, but operating in a context that is challenging in some way, involving difficult memories, except for those cases in which SSS is pleasing where the memories are fond ones.

so basically it is part of the human condition we have to learn to navigate, but there is no special meaning to the content of the earworm or intrusive thought.

anyway, I think the best result from this information is in knowing that the content of an intrusive thought is no more meaningful than the content of a song that keeps repeating in your head.

part of it is the rhythm, part the melody or feeling of the sound somehow matching your context, and none of it means anything except that your brain is working properly - the short term memory function is excellent.
just maybe too good, :lol:
in any case it will pass and it doesn't mean anything.
