Martha Stewart Closet/Boom Room
    #29629737 -

I am wondering has anyone used ether the Boom Room from northern spore or made one from a Martha Stewart’s closet?

I've made a martha, works well for culinary types like oysters.  Difficult to dial in for cubes though, lots of cultivators (also me) prefer to use a tub so you can set it and forget it.

If you did go that route my suggestion is to make your own. Do some studying and learn how it works and once you have it together run it empty to figure out the settings. Then you can name it anything you want, the mushroom house, Iron Lance's phallus palace.... anything you want.

You can build your own for way less than that.

Tents are mainly for exotics. They're a waste of money and more trouble than They're worth for cubes.

I am trying to grow Lions Mane with more efficiency than using a mono tub, any suggestions?

Looks like a great set up,. I assume that’s a rotary fan on the bottom of the picture for FAE, what do you use for humidifier?

The martha sits in a big black tub to catch excess water
At the very top of the Martha, you can see the humidifier sitting on the shelf, and there is a black tube that runs into the Martha from the humidifier

There is a small room heater and a light source also in the room
Just zoom in and you should easily be able to tell what everything is

I’m curious, where did you get that big black tub?

Looks like a feeder tub (or tote), I use an old 2x2 liner from a grow tent (dark street) that's been long gone, you can use a tarp, anything really (tray from Pet department).

I wouldn't buy a kit, you can piece it together way cheaper, my first setup was super budget, coolmist Vicks, 40 bucks, tent, 30, cycle timer (prefer controller, but many fruits grown with cycle setup), 15, slices in the tent for air, not recommended since you ruin the tent, but they are cheap and I don't mind replacing them after a few seasons. I also ran the coolmist, with a 120mm waterproof fan for exhaust, on the cycle timer, since controller setup, on for 1 minute, off for 5, it lightly lowered the humidity slowly, speed controllers are cheap these days, get one.

Let’s for the sake of argument say $$ is not an issue, but time is, what would be the best easiest setup? I see what are called “ mini green houses” on the Lowe’s and Home Depot websites, I am wondering how these would work?

There is no best setup, as far as being successful, or learning how to be successful, I prefer active air positive pressure setups, I have done negative pressure too with a 120mm fan and pulling air from the bottom of the tent out through the top.  I have also done passive air slices in the tent, then work your humidity with a cycle timer, there are different paths to the finish line.  I believe jakeoncid ran a cheap filter from the top, and exhausted through the bottom, but it's been a while reading that wonderful thread so don't quote me on that.  If you haven't or aren't familiar with that thread, it's a classic no doubt.

I just purchased this from Walmart.com for $32. It looks like a good start.

That tent actually looks like my last one, harder to see what's going on in there, but it worked fine and was bigger than what I have now.

Home depot has them to mix cement in…. Fits the Martha perfectly
I think this is it

You dont need exhaust fans or anything besides the humidifier as it pushes fresh air in and since the Martha isn’t air tight  you get plenty of fresh air

The humidifier i use … FIXED THE LINK

Just use pipe insulation to make the link

Look likes a pool noodle, I dig the ingenuity, I used an old vacuum hose for quite some time to pipe in, a little cumbersome to clean now and again, otherwise worked like a charm.  Is that a 6L humidifier, tough to tell from your 3rd pic.  I like simple setups, less moving parts, and focus on the environment, and what the mushrooms are telling you.  Numbers are great and everything but are the fruits happy is all that matters.  Are you getting new pins, and current fruits look healthy, or too dry and current fruits are great, but no new ones.  Anyway, cool efficient setup, and clearly successful with those tamp trays.

So when using the grow tents, are grow lights necessary?

Lights are never needed. Neither do they hurt when you have lights in your area the mushrooms grow toward them and they look a little bit better than they do grown in the dark.
