It's both scary and fascinating at the same time. Mainly because this technology has been openly received and accepted by the public due to its apparent benefits. The advent of social media and smart phones was the big game changer in that sense. The storage and selling of meta data became big business. And, as the above video explains, a honeypot for government surveillance.

People have forfeited their privacy in exchange for everyday convenience.

I'm just happy I don't have a "smart" phone.
