When I started rinsing again AFTER the overnight soak, BEFORE simmering, foul odors and general cleanup were vastly reduced. My PC water used to come out all oily and weird after a run. Now, between the extra rinse and the replacement of rusty jar lids with un-rustable crushed aluminum cans, everything is much cleaner and easier to deal with.

Could you explain your lid replacement with cans?

You got sick of those jar lids rusting cause they do that pretty quick. He crushed a bunch of cans. It's a revolutionary.

I have this over engineered raised trivet that takes like five minutes to setup.  Real peiece of shit haha.  I dont like the crushed can thing either bc it takes a lot of volume from the water.

But....the cans are FILLED with water?

I dunno. To be honest, I have my exact dial-in for 10 quarts in a Presto, and any deviation would probably break my brain at this point, so I understand not wanting to switch up lol

3 aluminum beer cans, I'd have to double-check but I THINK they're tall-boys (16 oz). A lot of local breweries use vinyl stickers for their labels, so those peel right off and then you've got a completely clean aluminum can. Crushed them down to the level I wanted the trivet at. That's pretty much it. They go on the bottom in a triangular pattern, trivet rests on them, I hold it all down while I fill with water to the bottom of the trivet.

I use one of these canning racks. I took the handles off.  flip it over place the trivet on top if you feel like it. it's the perfect height.

The one I got came with a bunch of other useful tools as well.  like jar tongs for removing hot jars.. a funnel for filling.

height measureing tool from the substance in the jar to the top of the lid.  And a little magnet stick for Picking up Jar Lids..

I think I probably got it all for 14 bucks.

I confess I ripped all around my raised beds planted Marigold's put up a trellis for a Clematis I ordered, I ripped around a trellis built into the front fence and planted rose seed there. A little while ago I ripped up my lupine area and planted some seeds there. You can see the devastation. I also was bored and found the two ugliest rocks and spray painted them silver and gold respectively.

My mother always grows Helleborus sp, so for me they represent a lot of fond memories. I was really happy with finding the Mandragora in bloom too. Seen a lot of them in the wild in Greece. These pics all taken @botanic gardens btw.
