I'm gonna be sterilizing some hpoo and I know that its frowned upon but I would autoclave jars at 15psi for 90 minutes and would achieve good results every time. Maybe 1 or 2 tubs out of 10 would get some contam. That could have been my spawn tho.

I have some pretty plates I've been documenting but nothing to do with them and nobody wants them so they will likely end up in the trash lol

I missed my agar work day 2 times now and my plates are overgrown. I have some borosilicate glass on the way with some parafilm and im holding out for that.

My wife was using them, and I thought I'd give it a try one night when she was out.  Sold!  Just went about my business with that in there, and it sure was interesting.  I mean, she enjoys them, and we all have butts right?

I'm not gonna lie, I missed something in my education and I'll go read up on that today but I've never wrapped any of my plates with plastic after transferring, does that help with contam or cultures drying out?

Yes to both.

For contamination it's more that might mites can crawl in.

I use wide rolls of grafting tape.  It's cheaper than parafilm, and I like it more.

But putting them in a baggie does the same thing and cut down on trash.

Edit:  Speech to text is really bad this for from the wifi.

Looking to make one big purchase before the baby gets here.

I'm going to Shell out for the real deal.. not an ffu. Figured mine as well right? No question about it.  Can't go wrong with that.

I've got my eyes on the bonsai 24x18 LFH.

Its on sale for $850

I've heard of one person say the blower was too strong and was causing turbulence. But easily fixable with a $20 speed switch for the blower.

Anyways....Any objections??  To the actual Flowood. not to me buying one :lol:

Hippie, I have a Bonsai 36x24 FFU. Works really well. It was a little pricey but still cheaper than the 24x18 LFH. Just a thought.

I'd find 18 inches a tiny bit short for some things (inoculating bags especially). Any reason you're set on a classic flow hood design? Seems like the Chinese FFUs get the job done for cheaper. I bought a 22x22 inch one for $525 before tax. That model is now $295 on Amazon. I love that thing.
