I resolve to get an old laptop working so I can do some work on the smiley thread (it can't be done from a mobile)

i didnt use a computer from 2022-2025, only my phone, then i stole my moms laptop and now i bought two computers on affirm, one lower spec n100 computer to act as a jellyfin, tailscale, habitsync server, and one better spec amd computer to act as a ps3 server via sunshine/moonshine and a ollama 8b server

i canceled all my subscriptions except prime, because i buy stuff with the free next day shipping, but like youtube premium and netflix and stuff, gone

im addicted to free software again, and now you can get decent hardware pretty cheap

now all i want, that i probably will never get, is a $3000 96gb mac studio with unified memory so i can run a ollama 70b server

I have a mac book pro for work, my prior job issued me a new dell laptop every 2 years when the warranty came up so I never have needed one.

I have a lenovo yoga 3 that we bought when my daughter went to college like 8 years ago. I pulled it out and it works but it is on the version of windows that is now out of support. Considering linux but not finding a version with touchscreen support so need to do some digging or use the as is windows os

Both KDE and GNOME have touchscreen support, so if you install either of those on top of most any distro it should just work. I would try either Kubuntu (for KDE), Fedora (for GNOME), or Bazzite (for either, made to feel like a steam deck).

Going good here. I've been able to put in 7 hrs 51 minutes of instrument playing in since starting, have a timer thing to see how many hours I do by the end of the year.

I went through a moving process last year and had to remodel my new house. 40 sheets of subfloor 1800sq ft of vinyl plank and 10 gallons of primer and paint later and im still  doing stuff. Previous owners had dogs and let them piss in floor and smoked very heavily. You couldn't breathe in it when we moved in but it's not even noticeable now.

As far as my new years resolution, I have fumbled, but I've learned alot of new songs with chords and im not forgetting anything so thats something atleast.

This year I plan to get rid of a whole lot of shit that we don’t need in order to reclaim my garage. It’s currently just full of boxes.

Gonna be a bit painful because I’m the only one in my family who is on board with downsizing, so expect it to be both an emotional and physical battle. The other part of that is many of the items that I’m probably just going to donate actually have value, and anyone with time would do well selling all this stuff. But I don’t possess time, just a desire for an open garage.

Man I wish I was 268. It’s so hard to lose the last couple pounds; gonna have a hard time cutting what’s left. I think I need to focus up on calorie restriction and do more cardio. Been stressful last couple weeks and I don’t think I want to give anything up for awhile.

I used to be a weight loss coach / dietician (sorta). Helped a lot of people lose a lot of weight, including myself. It's 90% diet. Keep it 500-1000 calorie deficit and eat only complex carbs and lean proteins. You'll shred.

Having said that, I ate half a hotdog today to keep it from going in the trash. I am not sticking closely to my own advice so my weight loss is slow and non-linear. But it really is as easy as eating brown rice, chicken breast, and broccoli every day for 3 months.

Out of my scope. I wrote a book on fasting though.

Just leg pressed a 763 pounder 3 times on a 45 degree leg press!

I am exhausted but it’s all from sheer productivity. Still haven’t had the time to start drums again but by the time I do I’ll 100% have the strength and stamina to play a full hourlong set of power drums.

Edit: not exactly part of my New Year’s resolution but I got all the pigs moved to the new place and they seem to love the new digs. I’m fairly proud of the paddock I set up out in the pasture.

24.5 hours practicing mostly guitar since 01 Jan.

Missed a couple workouts the last couple weeks but made them up with extra cardio the next day.

I've been in a class that fulfills the 30 minutes of something academic everyday thing.

On track so far.

How’s everyone’s goals coming along??

I’m still deadlifting around the same but no longer struggling. Leg press has definitely increased in the last 6 months by about 100 pounds but it’s not something I’ve been working on really and no real change from 30 days ago but again, I don’t struggle. Should see a body fat % of about 15 in 3 months. Crazy to think it is almost March! Well on my way to hitting my OP goal if I keep it up.
